Well Mr. Mud and Mindswipe are both back in action with a few more folks comin back for the fall!
I’ve thrown in my lot with them, so any organized hero shenanigans are put on hold. Not to mention Nimrod’s hero’ing has been dashed once more, but this time by a loudmouthed android from the future (and a short bout with insanity)! Heh heh… another of Dr. D’s creations come to warn all of some future treachery. Either way, Cross Fader is retired and back in his green tights full-time. Yeah, it’s crooked, but it’s the only game in town.
So something is on the way this Fall. Keep your ears to the tracks.
Summer swept me (and hundreds of others) up and I just haven’t been spending as much time online. I manage to log on and say hi to friends, dismiss a few “I thought you had quit playing” rumors, try to meet a few new folks. I haven’t been really working on any one thing. I’ve found that double xp weekends kind of ruin that. You accomplish in one or two days what would have taken you weeks or months. Now what?
When faced with a “Now What?” you think I’d do some writing. I worked on some bios and such, but nothing really. Talked to Mr. Mud about some stuff, though… so… maybe when Summer ends and the Rogues Gallery gets rolling one more time, some fiction will pop up here.
I’ve also been going back to the drawing board, literally. Trying to develop a style that comes naturally… something that I’m proud of. It seems I’m always a lot more satisfied with my simpler, less-is-more approach to illustrating something than I am with a masterpiece, so… we’ll see where that takes me.
Maybe more will happen soon!
Well, it seems that I just don’t have the time or the will to get the word out and recruit heavily, work on retention, all of that stuff that makes a group swell. I just want to relax! Unwind. Level up.
So, it seems that the Constant and the Asylum are both going to be stables and outlets for my own imagination. Fine by me.
In the meantime:
Guardians of the Golden Age and Rogues Gallery. That’s where I’ll be.
I hope to be putting up some art here soon!
The howls of mad men and psychopaths echoed down the unlit hallways of Bedlam Asylum as the Archvillain once known as Nimrod stared at the dank walls of his “quarters”. If one was not a bit touched in the head before Bedlam, it could be assured that they would be before long. The asylum had been built in the early 1900s and not a penny had gone into restoring the place. Dirty, damp, and dark was all its “patients” knew.
The Zig was a four star hotel compared to this hell. He started snickering at the notion of waxing nostalgic about that place before hallucinatory spiders began moving across his parasite-infested cot… in a place filled with bugs, he hallucinated more bugs. This set him to giggling once more until he noticed it had gotten terribly quiet. Somehow silence in this place was much more unsettling.
Ignoring the phantoms clawing at him from the shadows as more drug-induced hallucinations, he stood and stepped to the wrought-iron door where shadows flowed in through the crack underneath like black water. It only took him a moment, his breath escaping in a white cloud as the temperature suddenly dropped, to realize that the phantoms were real and the black tendrils were reaching up to embrace him, holding him where he stood. Powerless against this potential foe without his suit, he did what he always did in these situations: he laughed.
“How did I get here?” he asked the phantoms writhing about his legs. If death was a worst case scenario, what would it hurt to ask a few questions? Whatever presence this was, it had to have answers.
“There’s a siren for every shipwreck, Mr. Beverly…”
Rusted hinges creaked and sang as the same black tendrils tore the door from the wall and threw it aside, revealing a group of mad villains anxious to see the world burn…

It was a small secret that Dr. D, a mutant whose sole power was that he could invent anything imaginable, created many marvelous scientific artifacts… of which one was speculated to be the pinnacle of scientific creation: a Time Machine. When imagination is the limit, imaginations will run wild. Dr. D, however, never denied that he did in fact create one, giving credence to the speculation. Of all of the agencies that wished to get their hands on this device, the Longbow were the most persistent. They threatened, interrogated, stalked, and demanded that the good Doctor hand over his creation… but Dr. D gave them nothing. After some time, they left the old man to his inventions and his secrets. There was little that they could do while under the scrutiny of the ever-watching public eye. They never gave up their search, however. They continued for many years, fruitlessly. They never discovered that the true secret was was not where, but when, he had hidden it…

This one hasn’t been eating enough steak. It’s a sketch, but I need to bulk him up more, believe it or not.
If that surprises you, I guess you haven’t met Bench.

As non-canon as it may be, this is the little piece of fiction that started it all…

Paragon’s Constant was born of the imagination of one Dr. Demetrieu in a piece of RP Fan Fiction that I loved and has since become a home to a circle of veteran players and friends who met long ago under the banner of the X-Patriots and the Rogues Gallery. Dr. Demetrieu never expected it to take off or become anything other than a glimmer in his imagination, but he didn’t seem to mind that I was so infatuated with his idea and he let me run with it. I’m pretty honest and up-front about my aim to corral all of my friends into one place and this is the place I’m aiming for, blue-side.
The Constant is a small Super Group with small aims and few responsibilities; however, it has spawned a renewed gusto and joy for the game that I had thought was on the wane. There are no activity requirements. No oaths to avoid other SGs or VGs (though those who have joined me in this endeavor have been exceptionally loyal, and I am very thankful for all that they have contributed). No prestige requirements. We just hang out from time to time and enjoy each others’ company and enjoy the game. I only ask that a sense of RP Integrity remains about anyone that joins for the sake of those of us that RP casually or hardcore, depending on the individual. Other than this, it’s wide open.
So if you have stumbled upon this and wish to join our ranks or offer a laurel in coalition, just contact @nimrod in-game.
There will be an RP write-up to be posted soon…
“No force in the universe can break us. “
The site isn’t finished just yet, but as you see, things are on the move.
Check back occasionally for updates or shoot me a tell in-game! We have a few things in store for The Constant.
